Before the Copilot:
At Globemilk in Boxmeer, the Next-vision Copilot analyzed more than 20 million dairy product packages last year.
Despite the efforts of employees, errors can occasionally occur in a factory that runs 24/7. Previously, this could result in extensive cleanup work and frustration for operators. Packages getting stuck in the palletizer proved to be a difficult problem to completely solve, with various causes that couldn't be easily traced back.
The Goal
Together with this client, we set the goal to reduce the impact and associated downtime by at least 50 percent, without causing unnecessary disruption (such as false positives) to the process.

Our Solution
The Next-vision system proved to be the ideal solution for this situation, with modern but 'dumb' cameras already present in the machine. Our Copilot computer makes clever use of these by monitoring the camera feeds and making decisions based on them. The Copilot shows what's happening in real-time, intervenes in suspicious situations by pausing the machine, and alerts its human colleagues. Afterwards, it's very easy to determine the most common causes of disruptions using the periodic report.
Results
The implementation of the system immediately resulted in reduced downtime. Weekly, we pause layers that contain errors and save hours of cleanup and repair work. Per machine, according to recent OEE data, this can result in savings of 100k per machine per year. Add to that the reduced workload for operators!
